Joseph F. Stella

Dr. Joseph Stella graduated from Illinois Benedictine College where he was selected for membership in the Tri-Beta Honor Society.  He received his medical degree from the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1988. After residency training at Loyola University, Dr. Stella stayed to complete his cardiology fellowship, followed by two additional years of training in interventional cardiology.  He served as chief cardiology fellow at Loyola University from 1994-95.
Dr. Stella serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor at Loyola University Medical Center.    He specializes in interventional cardiology and has a particular interest in the treatment of advanced and complex coronary artery disease. 
His research contributions include  "The Thrombolytic Therapy of a Thrombosed Prosthetic Mitral Valve" and "Bivalirudin in Acute Myocardial Infarction" Also, he participates in numerous clinical research trials and has served as site principal investigator in several trials focusing on interventional cardiology. 
Dr. Stella is Board Certified in Cardiovascular Disease with subspecialty certification in Interventional Cardiology.  He joined Heart Care Centers of Illinois in 2001.   His office is at Blue Island, MetroSouth Medical Center.
