What Primary Care Physicians Need to Know about
Congenital Heart Disease:
- Explain the common cyanotic and acyanotic
congenital heart defects and their expected survival to adulthood.
- Understand the concept of residual sequelae in
regards to congenital heart disease.
- Comfortably approach the adult patient with
congenital heart disease using lesion specific guidelines.
Evolving Therapies for Atrial Fibrillation: The
Pulmonary Vein Isolation Procedure
- Recognize the different clinical presentations
of atrial fibrillation and how they relate to the pathophysiology of
the disease.
- List the indication, success rates, and
potential complications of radiofrequency catheter pulmonary
vein ablation for atrial fibrillation.
- Identify appropriate candidates for
radiofrequency catheter pulmonary vein ablation.
Carotid Stents - A New Way to Prevent Strokes
- Evaluate anatomy of the aortic arch, great
vessels, and carotid arteries.
- Compare the published literature on carotid
endarterectomy and carotid stenting.
- Understand the current indications and
contra-indications to carotid stenting.
